OTTAWA – The Ottawa REDBLACKS are proud to welcome Meagan Ferguson to the coaching staff as the club’s first participant in the Women in Football Program, presented by KPMG.
Each of the CFL’s nine member clubs will welcome one woman to join their football operations or business administration departments for a four-week development opportunity coinciding with the start of training camp on May 15.
Ferguson, who hails from Stratford, P.E.I, will join the the REDBLACKS defensive coaching staff for the four weeks. Armed with an extensive background in sports science and coaching at the grassroots, provincial and collegiate levels, Ferguson, who got her Master’s in Human Kinetics in Sports Psychology at the University of Ottawa, is also the only female Certified Learning Facilitator for the Coaching Association of Canada on P.E.I.
“We’re thrilled to open our doors to these talented women,” said CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie. “I know our teams will create a meaningful and immersive educational experience for our participants. Wherever their careers take them, we hope they reflect on this program with a clear sense of positivity and purpose.”
In addition to the program’s football-centric elements, KPMG will offer participants on-going support and mentorship focused on skill-development in business-focused settings.
OTTAWA – Le ROUGE et NOIR d’Ottawa sont fiers d’accueillir Meagan Ferguson au sein du personnel d’entraîneurs en tant que première participante du club au programme Femmes au Football, présenté par KPMG.
Ferguson, originaire de Stratford (Î.-P.-É.), se joindra au personnel d’entraînement défensif du ROUGE et NOIR pour les quatre semaines. Forte d’une vaste expérience en sciences du sport et en entraînement au niveau local, provincial et collégial, Ferguson, qui a obtenu une maîtrise en sciences de l’activité physique et en psychologie du sport à l’Université d’Ottawa, est également la seule femme de l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard à être certifiée comme facilitatrice d’apprentissage par l’Association canadienne des entraîneurs.
Pour l’occasion, chacun des neuf clubs de la LCF accueillera une femme au sein de son département d’opérations football ou d’administration des affaires dans le cadre d’une opportunité de développement de quatre semaines coïncidant avec le début des camps d’entraînement le 15 mai.
« Nous sommes ravis d’ouvrir les portes de notre circuit à ces talentueuses femmes », a indiqué le commissaire de la LCF, Randy Ambrosie. « Je sais que nos équipes créeront une expérience éducative significative et immersive pour nos participantes. Où que leur carrière les mène, nous espérons qu’elles repenseront à ce programme comme ayant été une expérience positive et enrichissante. »
En plus des éléments propres au football du programme, KPMG offrira aux participantes un soutien continu et des opportunités de mentorat et de développement des compétences dans des contextes axés sur les affaires.
