Top Three Storylines | Lions at REDBLACKS

Back in the W column

The REDBLACKS marched onto Tim Hortons Field a week ago and scored a decisive victory. While Head Coach Rick Campbell said winning a regular season game is “what good teams do,” the spirit and tempo of practices this week indicate the players got a definite boost out of the last victory. Now, their attention turns to winning in front of RNation at home on Saturday as they face another opportunity to close gap in the already-tight East Division.

Greg Ellingson

Ellingson is pretty good

What more can be said about Greg Ellingson? Dude’s got some serious game. In fact, Ellingson is riding a five-game touchdown streak heading into Saturday’s matinee against the Lions. Not only that, a strong game against BC could push Ellingson over the 1,000 yard mark – just 10 games into the season. If that happens, it would be Ellingson’s third-consecutive season, all with Ottawa, with at least 1,000 yards receiving.

Sacks & Points

Rookie defensive lineman Avery Ellis is coming into his own with the REDBLACKS. Not only does the Temple University alum have three sacks to go along with 13 defensive tackles this year, he also forced a fumble, recovered it himself and raced into the end zone for his first career touchdown. It was a big personal milestone and an even bigger moment in the game. Ellis sits tied for the team league in sacks with Zack Evans, with three apiece.
