East is up

Heading into Week 3 of the CFL schedule, the REDBLACKS will take on an East Division opponent for the first time on Saturday. In fact, they’ll be taking on an opponent not called the Calgary Stampeders for the first time after opening the season with a home-and-home against their West rivals. Starting with this weekend’s date with the Argos, the REDBLACKS will now play East Division teams in three of the next four weeks, including another game against the Argos on July 24 in Toronto.

Harris is here

Through the first two games of the season, quarterback Trevor Harris seems to have settled nicely into the role of the undisputed starter. Though Ottawa is still looking for their first win with a tie and a loss to start things off, Harris’ numbers are impressive.

Harris has thrown for 725 yards and five touchdowns in his first two games of the year, including a 425-yard performance last week in Calgary. He has also completed 75 % of his passes through the first two games while throwing just one interception. His play in Calgary earned him, along with receiver Diontae Spencer, spots on the CFL’s list of Week 2 Top Performers.

Three’s company

After the Toronto Argonauts became the first team since 2013 to have three 100-yard receivers in one game two weeks ago, the REDBLACKS replicated the feat in Calgary last week as “The Buds” Greg Ellingson and Brad Sinopoli, with 133 and 111 yards, respectively, and first-year REDBLACK Diontae Spencer, with 107 yards receiving to go along with 244 yards and a touchdown on kick and punt returns, all had big games.

Fewer than 2000 tickets remain for Saturday’s clash with the Argonauts. Tickets are available by clicking here, calling 613.232.6767 X1 or visit The Box Office at TD Place.
