The award recipients were selected by voting members of the Football Reporters of Canada (FRC) and CFL head coaches.

In this first ballot, FRC representatives from each CFL city as well as the respective head coach submitted votes for six categories. Voters were asked to select players from their local CFL club who, through the excellence of their on-field performances, best represent the awards’ titles – Most Outstanding Player, Most Outstanding Canadian Player, Most Outstanding Defensive Player, Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman, Most Outstanding Rookie, and Most Outstanding Special Teams Player.

The East and West Division winners will be announced on Thursday, November 10 with the 2016 CFL Awards being handed out on Thursday, November 24 in Toronto ahead of the 104th Grey Cup.

Ernest Jackson | Wide Receiver | Most Outstanding Player
2016 has been a career year for the Rochester, NY native. Jackson has followed up an impressive 2015 campaign that saw him eclipse the 1,000-yards receiving mark for the first time in his career with a second straight 1,000+ yard season. Through 17 games this season he’s hauled in 88 catches for 1225 yards (good for 7th in the CFL) and 10 touchdowns (2nd in the League). Jackson scored a touchdown in six straight weeks from July 31 – September 17.

Damaso Munoz | Linebacker | Most Outstanding Defensive Player
In his sixth CFL season, Munoz is on the verge of setting career-bests for tackles and sacks. In his last outing, Munoz recorded his fourth sack of the season to tie his career high and also had a forced fumble in the win over Winnipeg to help Ottawa clinch the East Division title for the second straight year. His 82 tackles are the 6th most in the CFL this season.

Brad Sinopoli | Wide Receiver | Most Outstanding Canadian
After setting career highs in 2015, Brad Sinopoli has surpassed those totals in 2016. The former University of Ottawa Gee-Gees star has caught for over 1,000 yards for a second straight season with 90 catches for 1,036 yards, and counting, along with four touchdowns. His 90 catches are the 6th most in the CFL this season.

Jon Gott | Offensive Lineman | Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman
The beard has been feared once again in the Nation’s Capital this season as the REDBLACKS centre of the offensive line has been as consistent as ever. In a year that has seen a rash of injuries and movement in the REDBLACKS O-Line, Gott has been the consistent force in the middle.

Tristan Jackson | Defensive Back | Most Outstanding Special Teams Player
The CFL veteran has been a welcomed addition to the REDBLACKS defence and special teams in 2016. Jackson has featured in 11 games for Ottawa this season scoring the first-ever kick return in REDBLACKS history in a Week 4 win over Toronto. Jackson is ranked 6th in the CFL with 496 kick return yards and 8th with 682 kickoff return yards.

Jason Lauzon-Séguin | Offensive Lineman | Most Outstanding Rookie
The REDBLACKS first round draft choice in 2016 has had an outstanding rookie season in the CFL. Playing in an O-Line that has faced several injuries, Lauzon-Séguin has stepped into action playing 13 games for the ROUGE et NOIR and featuring in four different positions in the offensive line.
