As part of the Purolator Tackle Hunger® Weekend, the REDBLACKS and Ottawa Fury FC are challenging the residents of Ottawa/Gatineau to donate a total of 55,000 pounds of non-perishable food to the Ottawa Food Bank.

This coming weekend, the REDBLACKS and Fury FC will be hosting game day food drives. Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or cash donations to TD Place when the REDBLACKS take on the Toronto Argonauts on Friday, September 23 and Fury FC hosts FC Edmonton on Saturday, September 24.

Fans who donate at the REDBLACKS game will have the opportunity to take their photo with the Grey Cup and be entered into a draw to win an autographed REDBLACKS adidas jersey. The CFL’s ultimate trophy will be in Ottawa as part of this important community event and will be located inside Gate 1 at TD Place.

You can also make an online donation to the Ottawa Food Bank at PurolatorTackleHunger.com.

This is the 14th season of the Purolator Tackle Hunger program, and since its inception in 2003, it has helped deliver the equivalent of more than nine million pounds of food to food banks across Canada.

Hunger is an important issue that affects thousands of Canadians across the country every year. According to Food Bank Canada’s 2015 HungerCount report, more than 852,000 Canadians – one-third of whom are children – visit food banks every month.

The Ottawa Food Bank is the central collection and distribution centre for 140 emergency food programs throughout Ottawa. They distribute 12-14 tons of food a day! 45 per cent of Ottawa Food Bank users are families with children and nearly half of those are two-parent families.

With your help, REDBLACKS and Fury FC can reduce hunger throughout the Ottawa/Gatineau region!

Are you up for the challenge?
