Harris, Williams earn CFL honours for second straight week

For a second straight week Ottawa REDBLACKS quarterback Trevor Harris and wide receiver Chris Williams have been recognized for their outstanding play. After the pair combined for two touchdowns in their Week 1 overtime win in Edmonton, the dynamic duo connected again for a major in Thursday night’s win over Montreal to vault Ottawa atop the East Division at 2-0 heading into their sold out home opener this Friday against Calgary.

After impressing in his REDBLACKS debut in Week 1, Harris picked up where he left off going 20-26 for 395 yards and three touchdowns. Harris also had two carries for a combined 15 yards to net over 400 yards of total offense for Ottawa. Through his first two games with the REDBLACKS, Harris is 37-45 earning 687 passing yards, 15 rushing yards and six touchdowns.

With under seven minutes to go in the fourth quarter, Williams caught his seventh pass on the night from Harris for the 52-yard score to grow the REDBLACKS lead to 14-points following the Chris Milo convert. In total, Williams made seven receptions for 187 yards of offence and the one touchdown bringing his two-week total to 15 catches for 363 yards and three touchdowns. Williams also gained 24 yards on a kick return.

The REDBLACKS carry their 2-0 record onto home turf for Friday Night Football at a sold out TD Place where the Calgary Stampeders visit for the home opener.
