The 2016 Ottawa REDBLACKS jerseys have arrived.

Designed by adidas and part of a league-wide unveiling of new uniforms for all of the CFL’s nine teams, the new duds caused a social media explosion when – after weeks of teasers showcasing some of the impressive detail featured in the new designs – were officially released.

Without reinventing the wheel and by staying true to the REDBLACKS identity, the home and away uniforms offer a slick, updated look and fit that the players love. The new uniforms also give an important nod to the people that support this team night in and night with RNation emblazoned on the pant leg.

“The fans are the most important part of our organization and everything we do is made possible by their support,” said Jeff Hunt, President of Sports for the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group. “As a tribute to them, the players will carry RNation with them into each game. It’s a privilege for us to give them that recognition.”

The new look doesn’t just stop at the players’ uniforms, either. Along with the new game gear, the entire new adidas collection – including jerseys, sideline apparel and a fan-friendly adidas original clothing line – was also unveiled this week.

As for the uniforms themselves…

The new REDBLACKS home uniforms feature a predominantly black look with red accents. The front and back are black and feature the players’ number in white with red trim. Red accents are found around the neck, around the arm holes and down the side, with REDBLACKS emblazoned across the chest, above the number. The pants are all black, worn with red socks, and feature #RNation down the right leg. No matter where we play or who we’re up against our fans are always with us.

The away jerseys are predominantly white, with red numbers outlined in black. Unlike the home jerseys, the road shirts have OTTAWA emblazoned across the front, showcasing that when the REDBLACKS are away from home, they are representing the entire city.

To celebrate the launch of the new jerseys, ours fans will get an early opportunity to pick one up for themselves this weekend. On Friday evening, the Team Store at TD Place will host an exclusive event for members of the Lumberyard, that includes a meet and greet with receiver and 2015 CFL Most Outstnading Canadian Brad Sinopoli and offensive lineman Jon Gott.

On Saturday from 10-noon and 4-6 p.m., all members of the public are invited to come shop at the Team Store and mingle with Gott and fullback Brendan Gillanders.
