OTTAWA-GATINEAU – The Ottawa REDBLACKS of the Canadian Football League on Tuesday selected Mikaël Charland with their second-round pick, 16th overall, in the 2016 CFL Draft.
The Gatineau, QC native recorded 200 tackles in 33 games with the Concordia Stingers our the past four years. At 6-foot-4, 215-lbs, the REDBLACKS add a hard-nosed player with the physicality to play in the box and support the run along with the athleticism to patrol the deep half with range. Charland is expected to make immediate contributions on special teams.
