It will be a day many of us won’t soon forget. The day the 2020 CFL Season was cancelled. Yes, there was some negative energy flooding social media after the initial news broke, pointing fingers and laying blame, but RNation seemed to turn that corner pretty quickly. The human element of people supporting people and looking towards next year started to rise to the top. That’s what makes CFL fans so amazing. That’s what RNation is all about. Here’s a few snapshots of the day…
It started with this:
The #CFL announces that there will not be a shortened season played this fall.

But even in that moment there was still a positive take on the situation from our QB…
This is devastating news for players, football staff, fans, families, & everyone involved in making the CFL a special league. As challenging as these next 9 months will be, the incredible fans, players, and franchises give me a lot of hope for the CFL in 2021 and beyond #RNation https://t.co/jZPQIxrER8

And it continued with #RNation; fans, staffers, players…
It’s not just the jobs but a team can galvanize a whole community. #Ottawa changed for the better with @REDBLACKS & @CFL returning. Hopefully now the league can grow & become stronger than ever expected. #CFL #CFLPA #RNation https://t.co/5hkDnloTdY pic.twitter.com/dLkZ6AipOU

Saddened, feel for the @CFLPA /players today, no 2020 @CFL season. At the same time, I agree that this needs to happen for longevity. On that note, for those frustrated @REDBLACKS season ticket members, I implore you, come September, to invest in the team and its future. #RNation

I know you’re all disappointed. I am too. All of us are. Let’s be pissed off today, lick our wounds and then starting getting this rolling again. Gutted for the players and our staff…the people here are incredible. As are our fans. Stick with us #RNation. pic.twitter.com/c7Omxqi1pf

I’m so sad to hear this news from the @CFL. It was inevitable but it still hurts and my heart is with all of the players and employees and their families. We will definitely be keeping our @REDBLACKS season tickets for next year and hope to see everyone back!! #RNation https://t.co/cNLUeHek1O

Dear @REDBLACKS
I am devastated that this @CFL season is cancelled. That said, I’ve already paid my for my season ticket and I’d like to donate that money to an employee who may be losing a job or is taking a pay cut.
If other fans can afford it, please do so. #CFLFamily ♥️— Jacqueline Roy (@jacroy67) August 17, 2020
Knew it was coming, but still tough news for CFL fans. Hopefully the league comes out of this stronger.
Look forward to cheering on @REDBLACKS in 2021. 🤞#RNation https://t.co/J0SATjQ4sn

A huge shout out to all @REDBLACKS players and coaches as I feel so badly for them as the 2020 season has been canceled due to #COVID19 Really hope to see you all very soon! #allthebest #RNation
