5 things to do at Lansdowne on game day

The Ottawa REDBLACKS wrap a five-game homestand Thursday night as they host the BC Lions at TD Place. Another loud and proud crowd will be on hand to cheer on Trevor Harris and company as the REDBLACKS look to maintain their hold on top spot in the CFL’s East Division but, as always, there is plenty more to do in and around the stadium on game day. Here are a few options:

Salute our Armed Forces!
Be sure to be in your seats early on Thursday night so you don’t miss a special tribute. In honour of Canadian Forces Appreciation Night. It was a special thrill for fans last season when a CF-18 jet did a pre-game fly-past during the final notes of O Canada before turning back to do it again just before kickoff. That will happen again Thursday night with the BC Lions in town as a special salute to the men and women who have devoted their lives to keeping us safe.

Warm up your craft beer muscles
While the Ottawa Craft Beer Festival may not officially open until Friday, there’s no reason why you can’t get a leg up on that sampling. While there are many places on site that can pour you a cold one, if you’re looking for a massive selection, head over to CRAFT Beer Market before and/or after Thursday’s game and try a few of the breweries that will be showcasing their offerings at the Aberdeen Pavilion between Aug. 26-28. For more information, check out OttawaCraftBeerFestival.ca.

Check out the Cabin!
The Subaru Log Cabin has already become a popular attraction for football fans looking to take in the game from a different perspective. Located behind the west end zone, the special section features its own bar and exclusive platform for watching the REDBLACKS in action. Check out the REDBLACKS on Facebook to learn how to get your ticket to the Subaru Log Cabin!

Rock out!
Get your groove on pre-game and head over to the Budweiser King Club next to the west end zone for a rockin’ tailgate party starting at 5:30. Enjoy some food, drinks and a liver performance by Lemon Cash. The five-piece indie rock band from Ottawa is sure to help you and the rest of RNation in a party mood early before you find your seats for kick-off!

Battle for first
Coming off a tough loss to Montreal last week, the REDBLACKS continue to hold down top spot in the CFL’s East Division. With Thursday the final home game for Ottawa before the team heads to Montreal next week and then into their second bye week of the season, picking up two points to either keep pace with the second-place Argonauts or extend their lead to three will be key for the REDBLACKS in front of another impressive crowd at TD Place.
