Cory McDiarmid – Special Teams Coach

Longtime CFL coach Cory McDiarmid returns in 2023 as the REDBLACKS Special Teams Coach, marking his first full season with Ottawa.

The Nanaimo, BC native joined the REDBLACKS late in the 2022 season as a special teams assistant after Head Coach Bob Dyce was promoted to the top role.

Prior to coming to Ottawa, McDiarmid’s most recent position in the CFL was serving as the special teams coordinator of the Toronto Argonauts in 2019 under head coach Corey Chamblin. He held the same role with the Edmonton Elks from 2016 to 2018 under head coach Jason Maas.

McDiarmid has coached in four Grey Cups, winning twice, while serving as an assistant with the B.C. Lions in 2000 and again with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2013. McDiarmid is one of a few coaches to have coached on all three sides of the ball in the CFL. He has coordinated Special Teams and coached Defensive Line, Linebackers, and also Running Backs since his first year in the league in 1999.
