The Ottawa REDBLACKS were unable to come away with a second straight win over the BC Lions, Friday night, falling 38-27 at BC Place.
Dustin Crum set a career high in passing yards for the second straight game, completing 30 of 35 passes for 307 yards and a touchdown strike to Justin Hardy, also finishing as the team’s leading rusher with 58 yards. Bralon Addison led the way with 132 receiving yards, with Hardy not far behind at 100.
On defence, Shakur Brown was Ottawa’s leading tackler with nine, and Adarius Pickett registered a sack of Nathan Rourke.
After falling behind 14-3 in the first quarter, Crum answered back with a one-yard rushing score early in the second. Rourke responded with two more of his own before the end of the half, however, and the REDBLACKS trailed 28-13 at the intermission.
Things didn’t improve for the REDBLACKS in the early goings, with Deontai Williams stripping Crum of the ball, and running it all the way back for six points.
Late in the quarter, Hardy made a highlight reel catch in the end zone, but Ottawa’s two-point convert try was unsuccessful, and they trailed 38-19 heading into the final frame.
Ottawa had the only eight points of the fourth quarter, thanks to a Crum rushing major, and ensuing two-point pass to Hardy, but time ran out on a second straight comeback effort.
The REDBLACKS return home on September 20th hosting the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in a 3:00pm kickoff for Family Game. Enjoy tailgating on the Great Lawn from 12:00-3:00pm, face painters, balloon artists, and more family fun.
