REDBLACKS Fall To Ti-Cats In Hamilton

In Saturday afternoon action, the Ottawa REDBLACKS were defeated by a score of 32-3, by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Tim Horton’s Field.

The Ti-Cats got on the board first in the second quarter, on a one-yard quarterback sneak play by Dane Evans. The REDBLACKS would respond minutes later, however, with Lewis Ward knocking a field goal through the uprights.

Despite heading into the second half only trailing by five, the game slipped away from the REDBLACKS in the game’s final 30 minutes. Jeremiah Masoli found Steven Dunbar in the end zone with 11:43 remaining in the third quarter, and Taylor Bertolet converted a field goal of his own not long after, making this an 18-3 game.

In the fourth quarter, Masoli connected with Jaelon Acklin for an eight-yard score, and Bertolet’s extra point gave the Ti-Cats a 25-3 lead.

Evans added another score on a sneak late in the game, and Hamilton handed the REDBLACKS a 32-3 defeat.

  • Quarterback Devlin “Duck” Hodges made his CFL debut midway through the game.
