Ottawa REDBLACKS select LB Deshawn Stevens with sixth overall pick in 2021 CFL Draft

The Ottawa REDBLACKS selected linebacker Deshawn Stevens with their first round pick, sixth overall, in the 2021 CFL Draft on Tuesday night.

The Toronto native had an incredible 2018 season for the University of Maine. He recorded 120 tackles (17 for a loss), nine sacks, two fumble recoveries. Stevens was named Maine’s top defensive player and helped  the Black Bears capture a CAA title.
With the pick, Stevens joins the likes of Adam Auclair, Alex Fontana, Nolan MacMillan, Antoine Pruneau, Alex Mateas, Jason Lauzon-Seguin, Mark Korte and Evan Johnson as first-round draft selections of the REDBLACKS.

The REDBLACKS also hold the following picks in the 2021 draft:

Round 2, 13th overall
Round 3, 24th overall
Round 4, 31th overall
Round 5, 42nd overall
Round 6, 49th overall

Le natif de Toronto a connu une saison 2018 incroyable pour l’Université du Maine. Il a enregistré 120 plaqués (17 pour une perte), neuf sacs, deux récupérations. Stevens a été nommé meilleur joueur défensif du Maine et a aidé les Black Bears à remporter un titre de la CAA.

Avec ce choix, Stevens rejoint les Adam Auclair, Alex Fontana, Nolan MacMillan, Antoine Pruneau, Alex Mateas, Jason Lauzon-Seguin, Mark Korte et Evan Johnson comme choix de premier tour du ROUGE et NOIR.
