Campbell, Ward, Sinopoli nominated for 2018 Shaw CFL Awards

Three REDBLACKS will be honoured as 2018 Shaw CFL Awards nominees when the league gathers to celebrate their best at the Grey Cup in Edmonton later this month.

Leading the charge for Ottawa is rookie kicking sensation Lewis Ward, whose record-setting 48-straight field goal completions set a new all-time pro football record. Ward, a University of Ottawa product, has been been nominated as the league’s Most Outstanding Rookie and Most Outstanding Special Teams Player.

Receiver Brad Sinopoli has gotten the nod as nominee for Most Outstanding Canadian. In addition to recording his fourth-straight season with at least 1,000 receiving yards (he finished with 1,376 yards and four touchdowns), Sinopoli set a new CFL single-season record for completions by a Canadian with 116.

Head Coach Rick Campbell will once again be up for Coach of the Year after leading the REDBLACKS to an East Division regular season title for the third time in four years. Campbell was nominated for the award in Ottawa’s Grey Cup-winning season in 2016 and won it the year before.

The award recipients are selected by voting members of the Football Reporters of Canada (FRC) and CFL head coaches.

The winners will be announced at the 2018 Shaw CFL Awards on Thursday, November 22 in Edmonton, Alberta at Winspear. Tickets to the Shaw CFL Awards are sold out.
