Ward honoured by CFL for outstanding Week 15 performance

Another record-setting game for Lewis Ward has earned the REDBLACKS’ kicker the title of the CFL’s Shaw Top Performer for Week 15, the league announced Tuesday.

Ward, who already holds the record for consecutive field goals by a CFL rookie, broke the league’s single-season record of 32 straight field goals (set by Rene Paredes for Calgary in 2016) in Ottawa’s win over the Edmonton Eskimos on Saturday. Ward hit seven field goals against Edmonton, giving him 37-straight on the year and putting him two off the all-time record of 39.

The all-time record now being chased by Ward is also held by Paredes, who’s 39 field goals in a row spanned the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
