REDBLACKS look to bounce back against Lions in BC

The Ottawa REDBLACKS will look to sweep the season series with BC on Friday night as they travel west to face the Lions at 10 p.m. ET.

The REDBLACKS are 1-0 agains the Lions this season after winning 29-25 at TD Place back in July.

The REDBLACKS (6-4, 1st in the East) will look to rebound after a 21-11 loss to the hands of the Montreal Alouettes last week. Though they came out on the wrong end of that one, the REDBLACKS have a good opportunity to right the ship and get back to padding their lead atop the CFL’s East Division.

BC (3-6, 5th in the West) are starting to feel the pressure as they are now last place in their division with only three wins this season. Coming off a bye week, the Lions will be hungrier than ever, even desperate for a win in order to place themselves in a favourable position down the stretch.

Storylines

Both teams looking to bounce back – What makes this game such a promising one is the fact that both teams are coming off a loss in their last game, and both will be looking to bounce back in Friday. BC continues to try and find footing in the West, while Ottawa is looking to build their cushion in the East. Ottawa is now only two points ahead of Hamilton in the East standings, so they will be hoping to go out and get a big win on Friday as they are in a tight race for home field advantage in the playoffs.

Remembering Sinpoli’s monster game – The last time that these two teams played each other back in July, Brad Sinopoli had the best game of his CFL career. The Canadian receiver caught 11 passes from Trevor Harris, for a total of 171 yards and a touchdown. Harris also had a big outing against BC, throwing for 363 yards that day.

Hebert Out – After returning from injury last game against the Alouettes, Linebacker Kyries Hebert will be serving the first of his two-game suspension. While the REDBLACKS lose an important piece of their linebacker corps, the team has been impressed with the player of Avery Williams, who will be starting at middle linebacker.

Scouting the opposition

The Lions are currently on a two-game losing streak. They lost during Week 10 in a very tight affair against the Toronto Argonauts by a score of 24-23. They were then unable to bounce back the following week against the Saskatchewan Roughriders in another tight one, a 24-21 loss. What needs to be remembered is that both were very winnable games for BC, who are now well rested and desperate for a win following a bye.

Injured during their Week 11 clash against the Roughriders, Emmanuel Arceneaux will be absent for this game as he has been placed on the six-game injured list.

The REDBLACKS’ offensive line will have their work cut out for them as they go up against the likes of Odell Willis and Shawn Lemon, who have a combined nine sacks on the year.
