Ride the momentum

The REDBLACKS picked up a crucial two points with their win over the BC Lions on Saturday, but what may be just as crucial was the momentum the win creates. Not only did Ottawa win, they did via an impressive second-half comeback reversing a 25-6 deficit into a 30-25 victory.

In the end, the REDBLACKS, with Trevor Harris back under centre and now firing on all cylinders, are full of confidence in what this group can accomplish as they head into their final road game of the regular season on Friday night.

Speaking of Trevor Harris…

The REDBLACKS got a huge boost last weekend with the return of starting QB Trevor Harris, who missed the past three games due to injury. And while the REDBLACKS were a bit slow off the mark in the first half, Harris found his groove in the second half, throwing three touchdown passes (two to Greg Ellingson; one to Diontae Spencer) and finished the night having gone 28-for-38 for 380 yards. The REDBLACKS will need plenty more of that as they look to close out the regular season with a pair of Ws.

First Ellingson, then Sinopoli… Powell up next?

With two games left for the REDBLACKS in the regular season, there could be a new addition to the club’s tally of 1,000-yard players. Receivers Greg Ellingson (1,381) and Brad Sinopoli (1,009) have already reached the 1,000-yard mark, both for the third-straight season, running back William Powell is just 165 yards short of reaching 1,000 for the first time in his career. Powell has been nearly unstoppable and came up just eight yards shot of reaching 100 yards for the fourth-straight game.
