Looking at 1st
Wednesday’s win over the Montreal Alouettes was huge for the REDBLACKS for a couple reasons. First, it gave the club its first win of the season and some crucial momentum heading into their fourth game in 17 days. Second, it put Ottawa back to within spitting distance of the Argonauts for first in the East Division. In fact, if the REDBLACKS can win on Monday in Toronto, they will leapfrog both the Argos and Alouettes to at least temporarily claim first in the division.

Buds, buds and more buds
The Buds are firing on all cylinders through the seasons first five games. After some heroics from Greg Ellingson against Toronto and the regular, steady play of Brad Sinopoli, the pair of REDBLACKS receivers sit first and third in the CFL with 584 and 415 yards, respectively. They each have a pair of touchdowns on the seasons, while Sinopoli leads the league with 210 yards after the catch. Ellingson, meanwhile, is leading the league in receptions over 30 yards, with seven.

1 vs 2
Not only will Monday’s game decide who gets first in the East Division heading into Week 6, the game will also feature a clash between the CFL’s two leading quarterbacks. As it stands now, Trevor Harris, who has played one more game than Ricky Ray, leads the league with 1,755 yards, while Ray sits in second with 1,529. Harris also has the better percentage at 71.4, compared to Ray’s 67.1 %. The difference in touchdown passes between the two is the same as the years between them, with the 31-year-old Harris leading the way with 10 touchdowns to four for the 37-year-old Ray.
