The Ottawa REDBLACKS announced on Wednesday the signing of American defensive back A.J. Jefferson to a one-year deal on the second day of CFL Free Agency.

The 28-year-old California native comes to Ottawa after spending the past two seasons with the Toronto Argonauts, where he had 91 tackles, five sacks, six interceptions and a touchdown in 30 games.

Jefferson spent time on the rosters of the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals, Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks before signing with Toronto for the 2015 season.
