Henry Burris honoured by CFL for Week 17 performance

After leading his team to a huge road win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last week and clinching a playoff berth in the process, REDBLACKS quarterback Henry Burris has been honoured by the CFL.

After coming into the game in the second half the previous week against the Saskatchewan Roughriders and driving his team to overtime, Burris took it a step further in the first of back-to-back games against the Tiger-Cats, completing 27 of 39 passes for 393 yard and a touchdown. The reigning CFL Most Outstanding Player also ran the ball eight times, picking up 37 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the 30-29 win.

CFL Top Performers – Week 17:
1 – Henry Burris (Ottawa REDBLACKS)
2 – Taylor Loffler (Winnipeg Blue Bombers)
3 – Joe McKnight (Saskatchewan Roughriders)

In what is beginning to look much like the end of the 2015 CFL schedule, in which the REDBLACKS beat Hamilton twice to close out the season before beating them again in the East Final, Burris picked up in Hamilton right where he left off the week before. In that game against Saskatchewan, he completed 9 of 16 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns, running for a third, to bring the REDBLACKS back from a 15-point deficit in the fourth quarter.

The REDBLACKS can claim the East Division title Friday night with a win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats earning them a bye to the East Division Final.

Their penultimate home game of the regular season is the annual Pink Game as part of the CFL Pink initiative in an effort to raise awareness and funds to tackle women’s cancers.

Less than 1000 tickets remain for Friday’s clash with the Tiger-Cats as the REDBLACKS eye a 10th consecutive sellout. Tickets are available by clicking here, calling 613.232.6767 X1 or visit the Box Office at TD Place.
