REDBLACKS sign defensive end Arnaud Gascon-Nadon

The Ottawa REDBLACKS dipped into free agency again on Wednesday with the signing of national defensive end Arnaud Gascon-Nadon to a two-year contract.

The 27-year-old Montreal native spent the last three seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats after the club selected him in the third round (17th overall) of the 2012 CFL draft.

“The areas that we were trying to address in free agency were at quarterback and Canadian depth,” said REDBLACKS general manager Marcel Desjardins. “Gascon-Nadon is certainly a player that has the ability to play significant reps for us on defence and we look forward to giving him that opportunity in training camp.”

Gascon-Nadon started for Hamilton against the REDBLACKS in last season’s East Division final.

The University of Laval graduate had 21 tackles (14 on special teams) and a forced fumble while in Hamilton. He helped guide Laval to Vanier Cup championships in 2010 and 2012.
