Are You Up For The Purolator Tackle Hunger Challenge?

As part of the Purolator Tackle Hunger Weekend, the Ottawa REDBLACKS and Ottawa Fury FC are challenging the residents of Ottawa/Gatineau to donate a total of 55,000 lbs of non-perishable food to the Ottawa Food Bank.

In two weeks, the REDBLACKS and Fury FC will be hosting game day food drives. Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or cash donations to TD Place when the REDBLACKS take on the Edmonton Eskimos on Friday, July 17 and the Fury FC host the Indy Eleven on Sunday, July 19.

Fans who participate will have the chance to have their photo taken with the Grey Cup or win an autographed Fury FC kit, depending on which game they attend. The CFL’s ultimate trophy will be in Ottawa as part of this important community event.

If you’re attending the REDBLACKS game on Friday, July 17 and taking advantage of the Park & Shuttle service at Canada Post, a collection bin will be there for your convenience as well.

Whole Foods Market will also be accepting non-perishable food and cash donations until Sunday, July 5 at 9 p.m.

The Purolator Tackle Hunger program is part of Purolator’s initiative to help alleviate hunger in communities where it operates through collecting donations and helping raise awareness about the issue of hunger in Canada.

If you don’t have any non-perishable food items to donate, cash donations will happily be accepted as well! Every dollar donated equals five dollars of food for the Ottawa Food Bank.

The Ottawa Food Bank is the central collection and distribution centre for 140 emergency food programs throughout Ottawa. They distribute 12-14 tons of food a day! More than 1/3 of the people who use the Ottawa Food Bank and its 140 member agency food programs are children.

With your help, REDBLACKS and Fury FC can reduce hunger throughout Ottawa and Gatineau!
