OTTAWA – The Ottawa REDBLACKS of the Canadian Football League have signed import wide receiver Limas Sweed and non-import defensive back Steven Adu.
Sweed, a 6-foot-4, 220-lb native of Brenham, Texas; joins the REDBLACKS after spending parts of the 2012 and 2013 seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Sweed was a second-round pick (53rd overall) in the 2008 NFL draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, with which he played four seasons before being picked up by Saskatchewan near the end of the 2012 campaign.
Sweed played collegiate football for the University of Texas Longhorns. In four seasons, Sweed caught 124 passes for 1,915 yards and 20 touchdowns, and helped his team to a NCAA championship in 2005.
Adu (5-foot-9, 190-lbs) is a graduate of Bishop’s University where he played football for five seasons.
